Is it possible to have structured careers in the Early Years sector in Bristol?

As a leading nursery jobs recruitment agency, Class Recruit consultants are often asked if it is possible to have structured careers in the Early Years sector in Bristol.

We thought this would make an interesting and useful News post for readers.

In our experience of placing candidates in Early Years settings across the South West since 2009, nursery nurse candidates can go into schools or nursery settings.

The opportunities for progression within a school-based setting without teaching qualifications can be limiting.

Working in a school setting does give candidates the opportunity to gain experience as a nursery nurse or teaching assistant working closely with the teaching team.

This experience may encourage someone to apply for a BEd in Primary Education or to apply for a PCGE to qualify as a teacher.

Without further training the career path can be limited.

This is why more candidates we work with choose to go into Early Years settings such as nurseries in Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire.

In a nursery setting, candidates can progress into Deputy Manager, Senior Manager, SEN and Operations Manager roles giving them more job flexibility and career progression.

To be an Early Years Practitioner or Educator, candidates have to be qualified as a Nursery Nurse Level 3 minimum.

We find that approximately of our candidates opt to go into nursery settings.

Schools mainly require teaching staff, and here at Class Recruit we are able to offer a flexible range of nursery jobs and Early Years sector positions.

It is highly possible to have a structured career in the Early Years sector in Bristol with the right support and recruitment experts working with you.

Since the pandemic, we have also seen a number of career changers, with new candidates entering the Early Years sector and bringing transferrable skills with them.

Many first-time candidates coming to us are looking for fresh challenges.

There are also students with nursing degrees looking to work with children, as well as many good Early Years settings that are looking for new Practitioners.

Nursery Nurse roles are not dependent on degree-level candidates, and many of our candidates enjoy working their way up in a really rewarding industry.

Best practice recommends two years' post-level 3 experience, but this doesn't have to be in one Early Years setting.

We recommend that you read this if you're looking for nursery jobs in Bristol.
