We’re looking for a caring, organised and passionate Nursery Cook to join the team.

In this role, you will prepare balanced, nutritious meals and snacks that support children’s health, development and enjoyment of food. Catering for babies through to preschoolers – and occasionally Play Club children – your meals will play an important part in their active, happy days of learning and play.

You will take pride in maintaining a safe, efficient kitchen and will work closely with the nursery team to ensure all dietary requirements are carefully met. Most importantly, you will share our commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and well cared for.

Experience and qualifications you need:

  • Minimum Level 2 catering qualification
  • At least 1 year’s post-qualifying experience
  • Up-to-date food hygiene knowledge
  • Good understanding of nutrition for young children
  • Confidence managing dietary requirements and allergies
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Enhanced DBS check

The job role:

  • Prepare fresh, meals and snacks for children under five
  • Plan and follow varied, nutritious menus suitable for young children, adapting for allergies and dietary needs.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, in line with food safety and health & safety guidance.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is well maintained and used safely.
  • Communicate clearly with staff and children, working as part of the wider nursery team.
  • Occasionally support cookery activities with children alongside nursery staff.
  • Take part in training, supervision and performance reviews to support your ongoing development.
